Creative Expression
Creative expression can be a source of processing emotions through a medium that accesses deeper emotions - creativity. This can include writing poetry or prose, creating art, singing, dancing, and much more. Below are a few resources that may support or enhance your creative expression.

Journaling
Journalling creates space for deeper emotional processing and reflection as it helps to externalize inner experiences. Journaling comes in many different forms and it can be a creative process in itself. Below are a few examples of types of journaling.

Expressing things that one is grateful for and acknowledging the attitude they have towards what they are grateful for.
Example: I am grateful for my friend and my attitude towards this relationship is of appreciation, love, and support.

Expressing oneself through writing a few pages at once without pausing to think or process.

Expressing oneself through visual arts such as drawing, collaging, painting or scrapbooking.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a practice that can be paired with anything in life. Mindfulness is the process of being the moment physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually with whatever it is that one is doing through attention and focus.

Involves becoming aware of one’s physical movement through focused attention.

A technique used in Brainspotting where one bring mindful attention to their somatic (body-based) feelings in relation to their emotions and thoughts.

Noticing thoughts without attaching emotion and labelling thoughts for what they are, such as, task, planning, self-judgement, fear.
